Thousands of people in Sydney’s west, north-west and south-west have been ordered to leave their homes as the flood crisis gripping New South Wales continues, with conditions extreme weather and heavy rain hitting large swathes of the state.
Sydney avoided the bulk of the east coast low on Thursday, but the Bureau of Meteorology warns wild weather could return by the weekend.
Roads are closed, schools have been closed and the Bureau of Meteorology has warned of life-threatening flash floods and damaging winds with maximum gusts of over 90 km/h in parts of the state.
